Blood in the urine
SYMPTOMS
Many things may cause blood to appear in the urine (known as haematuria); amongst these are cancers of the kidneys, ureter and bladder. As with all cancers, if diagnosed early they are usually easier to treat. Any amount of bleeding may be significant, even bleeding which is not visible to the naked eye, but has been diagnosed on a urine test (non-visible haematuria).
The causes of bleeding include infections, inflammation, kidney stones and an enlarged prostate.
See a doctor if you have any concerns about blood in the urine
