Hydrocele/epididymal cyst repair
TREATMENT
These are entirely benign conditions and often do not require any treatment. If the swellings caused become large or cause discomfort then a surgical procedure can be undertaken. These procedures are usually done under general anaesthesia and involve making a cut in the scrotum, draining the fluid (hydrocele) and/or removing the cyst (epididymal cyst). In the case of hydrocele repair an additional step to try and prevent recurrences of the fluid collection in the fluid is performed. The layers of the scrotum are closed with dissolvable stitches. You will usually go home on the same day.
