Circumcision
TREATMENT
A circumcision is a procedure to remove the foreskin of the penis. It is usually done to treat phimosis when other treatments (such as topical steroids) have not been successful. It is usually performed under a general anaesthetic, although can be done under a spinal or even local anaesthetic. The foreskin is removed, any bleeding dealt with and the skin repaired with dissolvable stitches. Circumcision is almost always a day case procedure.
Alternatives to a circumcision may include frenuloplasty, preputioplasty or a dorsal slit and I will be happy to discuss these with you during a consultation.
